I typically am between a medium and large (36C, 5'4"), and a medium fits well with room even for a light sweater underneath. It is also quite stretchy, so, if you are between sizes, size down! It does have side pockets; there is a light basting stitch (similar to what is typical with suit jackets/blazers) keeping the pockets shut which needs to be snipped. I bought the Miami Beach color, and just ordered a second one in white.
